it meets my expectations, nothing more and thats ok with me
You need to try GRiD.
Now there's an excellent racer.
+1, or Dirt 2 if you prefer off-road.
And what's wrong with Burnout? It's still the best racer I've played on PS3. Gameplay > graphics anyday, and twice on Sunday. But Burnout ain't exactly ugly...

so after a few days... what are all your thoughts? specfically:
- online gameplay
- cars
- tracks
- is everything online locked without licenses
- can you tune all cars
- can you change body parts/colours
not that bothered about graphics, it's the gameplay for me.

Let me get back to you later Sy.
Right now, some pics...! Sorry, I have to do it.
This is probably THE most desirable car in the World for me. You can have your Veyrons, Ariel Atoms, Mercs and the rest, this is the one car I want and have wanted since I knew what cars were:

And finally...
Me trying to get this Souped up 400+HP beast around a bend.

for the few minutes i was on launch day it was good, bit of jump around the track lag but things maybe smoothed out, they need to make sure the host is the only one who has control over the race start though or any idiot who joins can and will start it, the community features are impressive too
- cars
good so far the premium cars look suitably shiney and well moddled inside and the normal cars are OK, there is a clinical good look to the graphics if you get what i mean
- tracks
the original tracks have had spit and polish lots of real life tracks too and the TG test track, nuff said!
- is everything online locked without licenses
doesnt appear so
- can you tune all cars
sfaik yes to varying degrease obviously
- can you change body parts/colours
yes but not all, i cant add a spolier to my original mini but i can add some different spoilers and skirts to my Ford Focus

LMAO what the fuck were they thinking? Does it track stats of how many times you went to this menu screen or that menu screen? So nerdy Japanese guys can sit and wank over inane stats?
FAIL
Polyphony's Kazunori Yamauchi has said that Gran Turismo 5 is to receive a series of upgrades, as both the online and offline portions of the game were hit by the weight of day one traffic.
Sony has released an official statement about the online performance of Gran Turismo 5, which launched yesterday after over five years in development. "Because GT5 performs online access not only when participating in online races and using community features, but also when starting the game and during the various screen displays in GT Mode," said Sony's statement, "this online congestion is also affecting standard gameplay."
Sony has recommended that, as a temporary fix, players wishing to play the offline part of the game should disconnect from the internet, and that it is working on solutions to help the network performance.
Meanwhile Kazunori Yamauchi said further improvements would be coming to Gran Turismo 5. "Online updates are planned of course for leaderboards and matchmaking." Yamauchi said at the game's launch in Madrid (attended by Eurogamer), "[they're] all planned in the process of evolution."
The first update, Yamauchi said, is coming this Saturday and will include restrictions for weight and power in online races.
Yamauchi went on to say that his team would be "upgrading every week, every month."

I've just been talking about it to Chris (daywalker) and we/I came to the conclusion that the game is boring, and yes I'm bored with it already.

funny because today most of my friends list are hardly playing it now..after just a few days they are back to bfbc2 and cod.
I won't get this game now, to many people sayin it's a bit borin.

Depends how much of a car fan you are really. i love spending ridiculous amounts on stupidly expensive cars then making them even quicker!!!
Sy, probably wouldn'tve recommended this to you anyways....not alot to do online i wouldve said it was 80% SP and 10%MP 10% course maker. and considering your a MP guy its definately wont be your cuppa tea
Also thegame doesnt really get interesting till you reach level 13+ tbh, more of a slog up to that point. Soon as you can have a supercar its stupidly fun in my book!

I find it a bit boring on my own. Had a few mates come round and it's 10x better! We spent 2 1/2 hours just trying to get 1st on the top gear test track in Elise's.
Can't see many changes from prologue at all though. I've seen no damage, and no major upgrade to the handling or graphics.
I'm wondering what the hell Polyphony did with Sonys money and time.

Just so you are aware full damage on premium cars doesn't unlock until after level 20 ish ? That's because the game takes repair costs from you without asking or notifying you - so don't crash your darn car or you will be broke !! surface damage is free but chassis damage is alot apparently.

I really duno what to think about the game.
Here are some words that come to mind, i no order.
* Slow
* Bad Layout
* Crap Graphics (no Improvement from prologue atall)
* Bad Controls
* Bad Music
It took me over an hour, to customise my controls to how i like to drive!!! wtf!!!! not possible to do this ingame,
and it took a further 30 minutes to find out how to play my own music ingame.
Then it took a further 15 more minutes to do everything with the slow loading at every stage.
I fort NFS was slow, but this is slower..... It was like 2am i was on it, and i almost kept falling asleep at loading screens.
What is different from prologue.
...............................................................
One thing i noticed, loads of detail has been put into the graphics on the buildings,
Cannot say so much for the Tarmac and Green.
Disappointed, Yup!
