Let me know what you think of it...

Don't fret over your class selection - you can change at pretty much any time once you get to the city. Although it is good to decide between magic or melee early on then stick to it, but at least max out warrior and mage vocations before you decide...

No you don't change between characters - you can only have one save file. But you can change "vocations", of which there are nine, whenever you want. And once you've bought a vocation you can change to and from it for free.
Vocations are levelled up independently of your character, and keep their levels. But you shouldn't really judge a vocation as crap or not until you've maxed it out. But the vocation you are when your character levels determines how much your strength and magic goes up. So if you are a melee character for 80 levels, then start using magic based vocations you will have relatively weak magic.
Mystic Knight is indeed bad ass.
But I settled on assassin in the end because I really liked the archery mechanic and I like climbing monsters and stabbing them in the head with a sword

Well thats good to know,
So does that mean its Not Like Demon / Dark souls
Where per level it costs more... if that makes any sense.
In any RPG Game, for you to increase a level you require more XP Points, or Souls or some value of something.
And for Each Level this requirements increase.
if i change Vocations, do levelling up requirements reset as if its a new game, or do they continue as if your on level 80
and then you change Vocations and it treats it as level 81
I think the more am talking am confusing myself.
i.e.
level 1 costs 100 XP
Level 2 COsts 150 XP and so on
When you change Vocations, does the costs go back down to level one?
I understand the API would be hard based on the progress through the game.

There are two types of levels, completely unrelated:
1. Your character level, which just increases over time for killing shit and completing shit. This is a passive level up - you don't have to trigger it.
And it automatically upgrades your health, magic and strength by different amounts depending what vocation you are when you level up. For example, if you're a mage when you level up, magic will go up a lot and strength and health will just go up a bit.
I can't remember what the level cap is, but it's well over 100.
2. Your vocation level. This applies to each class (or vocation) and determines what skills and abilities you can buy for that vocation. You buy skills/ability with a different currency, different to XP but comes in for the same things: i.e killing shit and completing shit.
Again, the levelling up is passive in that it just increases over time. But you do have to go to a dude and spend points on new skills and abilities, then assign them as active. There are only 9 levels for each vocation (with 9 vocations), but the levels stick, so if you level up fighter to 4, then dick around as a mage for a bit, when you decide to be a fighter again, it will still be at level 4.
Also, vocations determine what weapon you can use, although there is some cross-over in the hybrid vocations. i.e. fighters can only use swords and shields and mages can only use staffs. But a mystic knight, which is the fighter-mage hybrid, can use swords/shields or staffs.
And if you unlock a sword skill as a fighter, you can still use it as a mystic knight when equipped with a sword. There are also abilities which are passive buffs usually, and these can be used no matter what vocation you are once you've unlocked them.
So it can be good to max out a vocation, even if you don't really like it, just for one high level ability it offers that will work well with another vocation. For example, maybe mage can unlock increased magic, but mages are kinda gay, so you level up mage to get the ability, then fuck it off and become a sorceror where the magic smack down begins - but now you can be a sorceror with increased magic.
I'm not sure I explained that too well lol, but it should make sense once you get to the city and start changing your class around.
Also, all that applies to your pawn as well, with the only difference being that pawns can't select hybrid vocations, which leaves you 6 of 9 options.

Can you tell I'm bored at work? LOL

When you've started (or before you do), go into the main menu options and disable a load of HUD crap, like pawn subtitles, controller layout and help hints.
And you mentioned the AI scaling...it doesn't*. Ever. Even in NG+. You basically just get harder and harder until you can just own shit without even breaking stride (big monsters will still make you think though).
This game is by far at it's most hardest when you very first start and get one-shotted by even goblins lol.
*Although things do suddenly get a lot harder when you trigger a certain story event. It's very cool.

Yer i understood that, and when i finally got on it, it made perfect sense.
Thanks
First thoughts, LOVE IT
Nice and Big, Lots to do, just the traveling from A - B can be painful.
How they never made this in a MP game i have no idea, You could of joined and been my Pawn instead of the API being your pawn, Gurrrhhhhh that would of been so much fun.
Anyway, That section with the snake / worm things that come from the underground, i did some nice exploring in there and got me 15,000 coin, went nicely for some armour
Got out of there, and some guy said something to me about Drake is amazed by me slaying the head of that beast, and i should report to some sergeant for work.
I kinda pressed X too many times lol.
Anyway i went into the centre where the shops where and spoke to some guy about a magic book, am on trail for that.
I think am jumping the game a little as its a little hard.
I saved the guy that was being attacked by the thieves, and now am all the way to the next marker, in the Thieves hideout (Bandets or w/e they call them)
I was able to take out the massive troll in the dark, took some effort after a constant attack of thieves,
But av said it there now, i need to wait for light to move forward as its too dark to walk into a swarm of 10 - 20 thieves in one go.
Is this a wild goose chase lol, will it be worth it
Thanks

The game makes you do a lot of walking early on. In NG+ you can buy the crystal you teleport to and put them wherever you want (up to 10 I think). But for your first play through you pretty much have to walk every where.theENIGMATRON wrote:First thoughts, LOVE IT![]()

There are two camps to this... A lot of people hate it, but the other camp (me included) really like it. It means random encounters actually mean something. It means getting caught in the middle of nowhere at sunset can shit you up. And as combat is the essence of the game, it means you get to experience that.
If you just fast travel all over, you would just do quests, with no adventuring. I enjoyed just exploring...
IMO the game lets you fast travel at the right time.
Head to the castle at the back of the city. The guy is outside the gate. However, he proceeds the main quest. Before that, go do some quests from people around the city, in your starting village, or notice boards. The notice boards I can remember are:theENIGMATRON wrote:Got out of there, and some guy said something to me about Drake is amazed by me slaying the head of that beast, and i should report to some sergeant for work.

* In the pawn guild in the city (there's 2, but the lower one is for DLC quests)
* In the tavern in the city
* In the inn in the city
* In the inn in your starting village
Just explore and kill shit. There are various quests to be had from people out in the map in settlements/castles/whatever.
You should buy or find a lattern (and oil), and get one for each pawn in your party too. Night/caves suck without a lantern.theENIGMATRON wrote:I was able to take out the massive troll in the dark, took some effort after a constant attack of thieves
Although I really really loved the flare arrow ability that mystic archers get. So sweet. In fact all the magic looks pretty awesome

Mystic Knight is pretty much you're only option if you want to enchant your own weapons.

This is where i need to do a little more reading up on the game,
As when i done me character, i only had a limited selecting, and i think i picked Fighter.
Anyway i figured out what Quest i am

The one where am searching for the Magic Book, Am in the Grimoire Location, I think. The Ruined Castle it looks like.
Anyway Question, If i put my weapon away, Will i be attached by these thieves
There is a hell of alot of them,
