But this is EA.

Over this past few years they have really changed their ethic and taken a few risks, Mirrors Edge for example. They have started to let developers get on with their thang and make awesome games.

Unlike Kotick.

Yup, but they are running against the Kotickinator for market share.

As if I wasn't going to pre-order it anyway...
Today DICE revealed the first bits of info on an expansion pack coming to Battlefield 3 for those who pre-order the limited edition of the game: Back to Karkand.

This multiplayer pack adds four maps from Battlefield 2 as well as classic "weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, [and] new achievements/trophies" to the new game's lineup.

The announced maps in this expansion are:

Strike at Karkand

Gulf of Oman

Sharqi Peninsula

The maps have been "re-mastered using Frostbite 2," Battlefield 3's new engine. There is no word yet on release or pricing details for anyone who wants the map but does not preorder the game.

I think it's time to dig out my copy of BF2 and start practising on those maps...

Pre-Order? dont ask stupid fucking questions...!
Pre-ordered PC, Xbox and PS3!

Not really, I'll prolly get the PS3 version.

A bit more of "Back to Karkand" news and fook me, Wake Island looks amazing! So much different than 42, BF2 and 43, each are unique. Well it's concept art, but still.

edit: Shiiiiiiiitttt! That was a big image. Can anyone tell me how to use the MH gallery?

edit2: Balls! Looks like I've been banned from the gallery. Too many password tries. Fuck knows what it is!

New reports suggest that 3.61 is a possible console killer:
http://www.maxconsole.net/content.php?4 ... ew_comment

Rockstar games have posted (and then removed) that 3.61 is causing Fat PS3's to overheat and turn off. This could then lead to Ylod.
As we all know constant overheating and cooling breaks the joints on the PS3 motherboard, enough of us have had the YLOD to know this for a fact.

So is Sony in danger from a different angle?
We have received some reports of PS3s overheating while playing L.A. Noire or beeping three times before shutting down/turning themselves off, mostly on older 60GB and 80GB fat models.

Primary reports seem to be that updating to firmware 3.61 will cause PlayStations to overheat. There have been various reports of this on a few different games now, all reporting their PS3s turning off or “Red Lighting” after having installed 3.61. This can range from games randomly freezing to PS3s turning off anywhere between 30 mins use to 2 hours. We have confirmed locally that multiple games (Rockstar and non-Rockstar) overheat or freeze only when 3.61 is installed.

At this time we are recommending contacting Sony directly to report the overheating issue. However, this is not the end of our support; we are continuing to test L.A. Noire on all firmware versions and hardware models to isolate the issues and see what can be done.

UK Pre-Order Special Edition details:
Pre-order the Battlefield 3: Limited Edition from Game or Gamestation and you'll get the Physical Warfare Pack.

This includes the Type 88 light machine gun with bipod "for superior firepower and total zone control". Also included is the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor that provides increased stealth abilities for Recon soldiers. And finally, the "lethal armour-piercing" flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun "that is sure to tear through anything in its path".

The pack also includes the already announced Battlefield Back to Karkand day one expansion pack, which features maps from Battlefield 2, including Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman and the Sharqi Peninsula, recreated using the Frostbite 2 engine. This is included in all Limited Edition purchases.
