It's arrived!
And there's approximately 20 minutes left to install the game data, and it's only just started.
Yeah right.
Be back in an hour.

LOL IGN and I occasionally see eye-to-eye, but I think as far as Gran Turismo is concerned we're definitely on the same page:
Gran Turismo 5 is a 10/10 simulator wrapped up in a 5/10 game
Polyphony don't seem to grasp that a great physics model and shiny graphic just aren't enough to cut it now a days. Other games have caught up, and - shock - brought
fun to the party too.
I hope you guys that like it get your money's worth out of it though

I am really touch and go about it now.
I was playing NFS yesterday, and laughed at the graphics.
Not that there piss poor. but i always expect cutting edge graphics when it comes to these games.
Never the less i figures out the external camera you can rotate around your car like Prologic or what ever that Xbox game was.
And the Graphics changed a little for the better.
Far from what i could expect.
My worry for GTA is i have Super High Expectations on the Graphics, and i even watched some Youtube videos and question if its Actual game footage am watching or its Rendered playback crap.
And then i seen some Vids from The Demo of GTA (like 2 years old) and i was like OMG, Shit!!!!
If the graphics are anything like that, i would be so highly disappointed.
I really am expecting super Smooth Graphics (no Sharp shitty bits)
Shiny objects, reflections, bright colours, water reflections.
I am expecting the lot!
Now if thats because this has been delayed by 4 - 5 years i would expect this i duno.
But really. Are the graphics as good as i would imagine? or what about you? where you surprised? where you like Oh Ok.....
Oh not as good as i expect
or
OMG Mother Fucker these Graphics and fucking amazing Wank Wank!!
...........................................
Blaaaa i blabbed on enough now lol

87 On metacritic
And I think they're being generous, while there's a few 100% scores, they tend to be playstation orientated fanboys anyway.
Don't get me wrong, I quite like the game, but it has a LOT of little annoyances.
The menu's are a mess, there's a fairly big delay going from one part of the menu to the next, loading screens take an age, you cant take screenshots while in a race - you can only do it from the replay menu, you cant take screenshots INSIDE from a drivers perspective, you cant take any car to a photoshoot location - you can only take "special" cars and who know what makes a car special?
If you're logged into PSN, you can expect delays of upto 2-3 minutes between screens while it connects to the servers, what for I have no idea.
But worst of all, the cars still feel wooden, they feel like you're driving a double decker bus, just like GT:Prologue. This is down to the unmovable camera, why it's like that I don't know, but all the best racers have excellent camera movement and it really does make the car feel real. Take the awesome GRiD, that feels like a racing sim should, or is it just me who likes arcade racers?
Then there's the graphics, while the screenshots look fantastic, they are massively processed to look good, a lot of the ingame shadows and cars actually look quite poor. Sure it has 1080p support, and 3D TV support, but all the talk of scrapping models just because the door handles didn't look right or a seem on the boot wasn't quite perfect is really just marketing to make us think the game will be perfection... well it's not. Far from it.
I do like spending money on cars though, I've spent 100,000 credits taking a factory car from 150bhp to 300bhp, and if I had infinite cash, it'd probably go to 400bhp, and all that just to save a few seconds on a race.
I also had a proper good go at the Top Gear test track in the Citeon concept car, and it was excellent. The car has the worst ever cockpit and you HAVE to drive outside the car, but it's good fun to do. But in Polyphony's infinite wisdom, they neglected to add the "Reasonably priced car" so no way can you test yourself against the likes of JK and Simon Cowell. So basically it's a nice addition, but totaly irrelevant.
It's a definately a time sink though, it'll take an age to unlock and complete everything, then of course theres the replay value and online side. But all the positives aside, it's the negatives that annoy and there's plenty of them.
I'd give it 75 out of 100

Nope the graphics are definately below expectations.
Whats prologic?
Now that reminds me, the sound keeps cutting out on mine, when I leave a race, change from menu to menu etc, my 5.1 DTS amp just looses the optical signal... it does it all the time. I have to switch sources to get it back.
Others say it's fine, so it might just be my amp being over sensitive (it's my amp after all). Or it might be a bug as it's the only game to do it since BFBC1.

some reports in eu sony forum of surround/optical issues.. so it is the game that is the issue not your amp.
thanks for the review/thoughts above in your other post, think i'll deffo be giving this a miss, i like vehicles to feel natural and real.. with decent suspension/physics/handling, not this stiff stuff.

some tracks are great some are meh
the nordschleife is fantastic, silky smooth, great gfx, lovely
some textures on tracks look meh, especially concrete structures, look no better on ps2, could have gt4 i was playing
game sometimes just sticks at intro movie and i can't select any menu buttons
almost every start of a race the gfx suddenly dull a little bit like you going into shade
damage? what damage. i've seen very little. crash into car at 200 on daytona oval and just above slightly dislodge boot lid!
i like the game but 4-5 yrs dev time? lazy devs. how many people worked on this game?
nothing new here. might as well been gt4 hd.
60/100

Sorry i meant prologue
Is it better graphical wise than Project Gotham Racing
I recall the camera angle when you view around the car moving
graphics was impressive
Am glad i not bought this yet. Rental should be good for me.
Unless i see a cheap copy on the net somewhere that will do for killing some time when bored
Is this how the Graphics look like in the Polished Version?
This is a image from prologue? would i expect anything more than that?

You need to try GRiD.
Now there's an excellent racer.
