Thanks for your advice and comments fellas. I have calmed down now. Brought another TV down from upstairs for us to use. I don't blame the boy, it's not his fault - he's only 3. I didn't even tell him off. It's my own stupid fault for not having insurance. Expensive way to learn a lesson though.

If I save up for a few months I may be able to afford another LCD out of my monthly bonus, I don't know if I should bother though - what if he does it again ?

Ahh the joys of being a father..

I have a cast iron excuse for being crap on the battlefield now, I'm playing on a crappy TV and can't see so much detail. LOL.

do as I suggested, get the insurance, contents only if money is tight, and wait a few weeks.
Then claim, and the bonus is... if he does it again, you're still insured.

go for a cheaper smaller screen

i've got 2 young children, 4 and 5

we've got a 32 in panasonic - paranoid all the time - they can't go near it

when they are older i can invest in a bigger set

put chicken wire in front of it, then you get moire effect like you had a crt, and you protect it.

That's what I was thinking Seddon, I did not realise they were so fragile - I thought you would have to crack the outer screen to damage it, but no. Enough pressure in the middle and it cracks inside somehow. Gutted.

I think a smaller screen will be tougher / less surface area.

They are always told to keep away because I was worried about it falling on them. I think he was watching Dora the Explorer - and probably threw the car at swiper the fox.

Never mind.

That's a great idea. Pity they don't come as standard on new TV's. Other people must have had this problem before.

Nah, if you want put something in front of your screen you will be better of buying a sheet of fiberglass from B&Q or Wickes and cut it to size and stick it in front of the tele. But insurance when you have kids is probably a better option.

Well, will someone please give my wife a kick up the arse and persuade her to (let me) get at least a 42" as our room is a large one, and I'm sick of sitting like a five year old on a buffet in front of the telly.
Time to up grade Mrs codayop.
"Recession!"
-Oh yeah
"Glastonbury Tickets!"
-Alright Alright. You think we could stretch to a new house at least then?
