Set it up on that Server then an ill Join you when i get home.

I Just equipped everything worth while and went trekking down the dark dark cave.

I used 224 Candle things. running around going deeper and deeper.
I found an area that has Water falling into it, and next to it was a Lava shoot or w/e you wona call it,
Lava pouring into the cave.

But there was too many enemy's for me to handle, and ended up dieing,
Never saved just closed it down :-p
I shall return better equipped.

Lots of Gold, Cole, and Blue things down there :-) hehe!!

Dave i'll have to look into the server multiplayer (i usually just join the ones from forums)

here is the start of my new world.

Starting with my sea-bound multi story brick house. (front)
(3 floors and one floor is on brick stilts)

Image

second one is the side view from a mountain, lava coming from the roof and also u can see the start of the stilts towards the back which will eventually spread over the sea to the other island.

Image

2nd floor view from inside

Image

up the ladder to the tower

Image

top of the tower, which also extends over those stilts..

Image

a small garden and also a rail track leading to a nearby cave

Image

the cave.. turns out to be quite resourceful too, however it's full of baddies, so i could do with the apache to baserape them.. lol

Image

not much happening on the new world, but eventually i will have a long corridor on those stilts to get to the next island, or i may build a small dock and use a boat rather than trekking.

Basic right now but as soon as i get some more stuff and start building i will, in that cave i need to dig down abit and extend it undeground till i come out the other end lol.

Well i've built a small town incased in some walls so far..
(used a new texture pack which is very nice)

I think i am gunna build a dock and attempt building a pirate ship, there a bloke on youtube who shows you how to create one, looks good.
(they are just for show though) have to use them small wooden boats if you want to move in the water lol.

:)) Even though i'm nooby at building things, i'm still gunna try lol.

p.s i swear i saw some green octopus like creature in the water, i got out quick lmao.

Yes Sy! It will be awesome if we can get a Mess Hall server up and running.

Not keen on using inv-edit or any other sort of mods, I see some of them as making half the game pointless.

Appreciate the effort mate! :D

Thats well looking good Sys :-)

Ill take some Shots of mine when it looks better, I Originally setup camp in the top of a mountin and now flattened it and building my house outwards.
See how it goes on anyway :-p

But yours is coming along very nice.

When you talk about setting up the Linux server, you talking on your own Linux machine, or one of your Servers :D

just on the box mate so we can have a proper public server.. the server requires about 200mb memory per 24 players and upto about 600 tops..so ive set one up for 30 players. (not that we would need that many).

Anyways i've installed it, works fine and i can connect fine.
However i need to find a start up script and also stop it from closing down as soon as i exit putty.

Need to dig through the wiki to find the commands minecraft wants to use for starting and stopping it's server.jar file and keeping an eye on any crashes so it can restart on it's own.
It doesn't seem to like the usual command, they must have a custom script somewhere (i just can't find it yet).

Then i need to figure out how to add admins and special privs etc.

obviously this should be it, but the server hates it, even with the changed paths, so i gotta work around it somehow.
Where init.d is is usually your start up's but i have mine in rc.d/init.d and i don't think it likes it, which could be a problem... but i'll look into it later (it's abit late tonight lol)

It's probable that i;m missing something simple, i suspect the rc.local script at start up, i'll check tomorrow :)

On another note..

Do we just want a bare bones minecraft server?
Just like if you loaded a new world from scratch?

because there is a modded version which can have bunch of plugins:
http://wiki.bukkit.org/Plugins_By_Category
(world edit looks quite good - edit the game world on the fly)

This looks very Promising :-)

The World Edit sounds Very good, Means where not in a Building Only state,
And we can build what we like Alot easier but still be attacked by the mobs

Very Good Sys!! cannot wait for us to all get on and give it a whirl.
Fingers crossed you have some Joy by this evening as i have no plans and will be Killing my hours on Minecraft :-)
So if its up we can all jump on and have a laugh :-) PC Based too so we can have Comms
Not sure if you have Ingame Comms / A Addon? or its more stress on the server
or we use Teamspeak.

Bring it on!!! See if i can hold back the temptation of playing it in work, Or i might be a sucker and end up playing, One advantage of being able to play it in your browser :-)
