LOL, what world do you live in?
Banks get hacked - YES banks, online services, play.com has been hacked several times, if it's on the network that connected to the internet - it's vulnerable.
The money side is most likely not even done by Sony they just hand it over to VISA or Master Card, much like how foursquare and others rely on Amazons Cloud for hosting.

Several days eh? Not good PR for sony especially over the long weekend.
I can only hope that annonymous HAVE attacked their servers, at least that way they can blame someone else.
Update: Quote from annonymous IRC:
We Are NOT attacking sony, psn or any sony sites
Asking if we are will result in a ban from our irc
Psn is down because of sony NOT because of anon
Our DDoS attacks on sony have stopped
So fuck off asking

Some of their Mission critical gear must have went down to go on this long.

I've heard that the earthquake caused damage to more nuclear powerstations than just Fukushima, if other reactors are struggling then it stands to reason the power cuts are inevitable. Even with generators it's still impossible to keep a 100% uptime in those catastrophic conditions.

I didn't understand a word of that.
I would hope Sony has PSN servers outside of Japan. No wonder it takes so fucking long to synch trophies sometimes...

It's now more than 24 hours later and PSN is still down.
I have just logged into
http://www.ps3trophies.com and updated my trophies, I'm not sure how, but it did get the latest trophies, so something is still running somewhere.
No updates on the EU Blog or US Blog, still the same information, it'll be a couple of days before PSN service resumes.

new code: 8002A203
At least the code has changed, but no indication of what it means... so I'll make one up:
8002A203: It's easter, it's warm and sunny, now get the fuck outside and do something else.

Come on!!!!
Get out there and enjoy some of that sun!! you must all be like Milk Bottles
sitting there hitting that X button attempting to sign in 1440 times!!!!
1 sign in per minute = 60 per hour, = 24 hours = 1440 attempts!!!
Leave the servers down and use it as an excuse to go and have sex in the back garden

first off it was planned maintenence, then it was down due to a
possible hack then it was something else, then it was a Japanese server crash, and now someone hacked the servers so they switched everything off?
I dont think it would take this long to perform a forensic investigation to find the culprit and method.
