LOL I love choppers so I'm still in...I was confused by the lack of online trophies though.
But yeah, if you guys are focussed on MP, this probably isn't going to be for you...

Yeah well, i feel co-op is just a single player add on to this game, it's not really unique.
If they came out with a co-op mode where you both start in the apache then yeah.. i'd be intrested.
I have never been a fan of games with co-op really..i'd rather just play mp lol.

Well, I've been looking forward to this game for ages, but after playing the demo...now I'm
really looking forward to it. It's the dog's dangly hairy man-melons.
And it's nice to hear British voices from your co-pilots, not fucking yanks. I didn't realise there were so many co-op missions either, I thought there were only 4 or so.
It does have a few issues though... finding the LZ is a bit tricky and the end of the final mission. And I haven't worked out how to free-look or use the flares yet. The satellite camera is cool though. It's quite annoying to be kept in play by an arbitrary border too, especially over the sea when you're chasing those boats.
But still - looks like an easy platinum
Pud, you checked the demo yet? I know you love you're choppers, so this game can probably fill the hole left by POOWX 2. If you aren't interested in this game, there's something wrong with the world.

Played the demo and.. i quite liked it, i sat in training mode in realistic mode, doing loop the loops, circles and upside down fancy shit.. just pushing the physics of the chopper..
get to cocky and the thing wants to crash rofl.
Did crash a fair few times at first in realistic mode.
What gets me is when you are accelerating and trying to move forward, i kept being pulled to the opposite side.. couldn't quite figure out if i was using to much "torque".
However it sounds fucking brilliant.
Liked the missions aswell
the graphics on the floor are a bit weak though, they are more like a endwar/ruse type of graphics for scenery, does anyone know what game engine it is?
ANYWAY, i have pre-ordered again, i could see me playing that with co-op no problem.
Where are the official forums for this game? i can't find any.
This game will make some great co-op replay for hd recording.
the replays are pretty sweet (well i like them)

I had a play of this last night, I didn't like the tutorial and almost deleted it, but I tried the fist mission and enjoyed it.
The external view does not work for me though.

I haven't even toyed with that yet - I was just doing the missions. That last mission there's loads to get your teeth into. But no doubt I'll revisit the demo many times before release, like I did with IL2 - it fills a hole in my collection big time.
Symonator wrote:get to cocky and the thing wants to crash rofl.

LOL yeah - I only crashed once into scenery: into a house as I was strafing infantry. Actually twice, I flew into a mountain while talking to the wife - but that doesn't count. I only played on the easy difficulty once to unlock the harder level. There's such a difference I don't want to get used to easy.
Symonator wrote:What gets me is when you are accelerating and trying to move forward, i kept being pulled to the opposite side.. couldn't quite figure out if i was using to much "torque".
I found this too - it just won't turn. It's like it's on a bit of elastic. What I've found is you need to fly it like a plane at high speed, i.e. bank it on it's side and pull up. That gets you round the corner nicely, but is quite disorienting.
Symonator wrote:However it sounds fucking brilliant.

The imaginary map border annoyed me when it gives you those boats to chase, because I didn't go after them straight away so had to sit in the map shooting out at them... And my first time I was shot down, it was by my fucking team mate LOL. Funny then, but won't be funny 10 missions in on veteran difficulty (where you get one chopper to do the whole campaign).
Symonator wrote:the graphics on the floor are a bit weak though, they are more like a endwar/ruse type of graphics for scenery, does anyone know what game engine it is?
It's true - and infantry just run through the scenery, which is obvious when you're covering the downed apache in FLIR mode. It's not a licensed engine, it's their own - same as they used in IL2. But the ground stuff, despite still being dodgy, is hugely improved over that game.

Sweet, I'll be on - as long as you are comfortable in realistic or above

The official forums are
here, but they're a pain in the arse unless you use Firefox, because you can't change your password and it sometimes logs you out. Which means you need to copy/paste is back from the email.

Again, I'm there - formation flying, then breaking off to kick ass FTW :ninja:

The biggest problem you get in realistic mode is yaw control is on the same stick as power, really it needs to be on the stick that controls pitch.
because you can't use power correctly whilst using yaw.
this is why you go all bungee like round corners.
I really need them to add the custom controls, i can't see why devs don't allow custom mapping on most games these days... but i dunno overall if i can put up with the way they have set it up.

They got a load of stick (no pun intended) on IL2 for not having customisable controls, so I'm hoping they put it in. I thought I'd read something about it on their forum, but can't find it, so asked explicitly, because that was my immediate reaction too. But I'm getting used to how it is, so it's not a deal breaker for me.
Plus, I don't have several hundred thousand air miles in a BFBC chopper to uncondition from

There is an XBox demo...apparently there's an annoying sound bug in it though.

LOL scratch that - I've just noticed a new member of the name "Syonator" asking a similar question and getting a less than favourable answer.

well i was impressed myself yesterday, controls on learner dont seem too bad and its nice to be limited by the actual ammo compliment of the apache even if they do reload after a bit it looks nice as sy mentioned a bit rough around the edges but you can see actual people when you zoom in close on the cannon camera
controls i agree with yaw and power i spent ages trying to get a comfy setup and kept thinking of battlefield lol :XD but it seems difficult to straife left and right to me plenty of times i would have liked to sit at a distance and just bob left and right chucking rockets at the targets or fly parrarel to the road and bomb the convoy
if you guys can offer any flight tips id appreciate it, Infinites knows i tried realisting and nose dived after 5 secs lol :wow: :XD
best bit though? hovering 1000 feet above the crash site of the other apache going to FLIR on the cannon and BRRRRRRRAP BRRRRRRRAP get some! :XD :XD

The only flight tips I can give is to play the demo. You both have too much BF flying to undo, where as I don't have such a problem. It would be nice to make the controls a bit more FPS, i.e. swap the function of the horizontal axis.
But I'm gonna stick with it so I can hit the ground running come release.

An end-user review from a guy who loves his sims (and who's opinion I'd trust):

Loading replays up to the leaderboard sounds sweet.
(The US had their release date brought forward to Friday just gone, the lucky bastards).
Oh, and while I'm here, I think there is a co-op mission that is equivalent of DM or TDM
