It's only taken 7 years, but it was released at midnight last night.

It's divisive that's for sure, with professional reviewers giving the game nigh on 100/100 and only a few, and I mean only a few scoring less than perfect, but the public score so far is only 3.4.

One thing is for sure, the leaks haven't helped. If you don't know and don't want to know about the leaks... don't read the spoiler.

The reasons for a lot of the negative feedback involves Joel being murdered and the LGBQT issue that is forced on the player.

At the end of the first game in the hospital, while escaping with Ellie, Joel kills a doctor who is helping his/her son transition from male to female.

In part two its the doctors daughter Abby who seeks revenge against Joel and spends the next 7 years looking for him.

Now according to the leaks, you play part of the game as Abby, and while you're supposed to see her perspective and her rational behind her anger, I believe you also have to kill Joel while you play as Abby.

It's this part that made me cancel my pre-order. Not just the fact that Joel is murdered, but that YOU have to do it. The LGBQT is very annoying, but not for the reason people will think. It's the fact that it's being used as a plot device. It's absolutely not needed, Joel is a good man that's done some seriously bad things, things that were hinted at in part 1, and anyone on the receiving end or their friends/family could have gone after Joel for revenge.

So why use a trans woman as the antagonist? Ironically she's also the protagonist.

Now apparently, Neil Druckman got the idea from Anita Sarkeesian, to use more LBGQT characters in video games instead of the usual tropes. But Abby could be anyone with a grudge, a man, a woman, child to adult, hell even a Canadian. Abby did not have to be transgender. It strikes me that this plot device was used to create hype and hysteria around the game and nothing more.

That's my thoughts anyhow.

Looks at trailer it looked very good.
An of its to follow its first title then am sure the story will be amazing.

The multi player was good, hopefully that will return.
All thought am not sure I'll return, a heafty buyout for one title atm.

I bought it after watching some muppet pro-gamer try to play the game and play it badly.
I also wanted it because, well, I think we all know how much time I spent playing The Last of Us part one on the PS3 and PS4.

I wanted to hate it, I really did, having the WOKE LGBQT subject rammed down your throat made me cancel my pre-order, but in all honesty, that's the haters. The antagonist (Abby) is trans, and that's it, that's as far as that goes, it's discussed but only just. Abby teams up with a young girl (Lev) trying to pass as a boy, and again, no big deal is made of it, in fact when you discover why Lev is changing her identity, you really empathise with her.

These are the only three non binary characters (not forgetting Ellie is gay), and absolutely no big deal is made of it and it DOES NOT detract from the game or story.
Yes the story could have been binary characters fighting binary characters, and that would have been the end of it. But Neil Druckman wanted different tropes and threw these into the main mix. It works because no big deal is made about their sexual identity.

The only people making a fuss... The narrow minded gay bashers. Like I said, I wanted to hate it because I believed the message was being forced on us, forced down our throats until we choke. But really... it's not.

I will say it could have been a shorter game, less going backwards and forwards in time, but it's still enjoyable. I happy that there's no "hard mode" trophy though... that was a nightmare to finish to get the platinum in part 1.

I love what Naughty Dog did with the story and characters, the antagonist (Abby) becomes the protagonist, and vice versa with Ellie (the protagonist), she becomes the antagonist. You really really feel both sides, both viewpoints, both sides of the story. It really works, and at first you want to really HATE Abby, but eventually, you become to love her and get angry with Ellie. You empathise with Ellie because she lost Joel.

It's a hell of a thing to pull off, but ND did it and did it really well.

FUCK the HATERS and love the game.
