I want to compile a list if truly EPIC movie or TV themes that really conjures the film/tv programme that it reminds you of when you hear it.

Examples:
Last of the Mohicans

Star Wars Throne Room - End Theme

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: l'estasi dell'oro - Ennio Morricone

So those are my top 3, what's yours everyone?

nice choices so far lads, some from me!

Battle Beyond the stars

starship troopers - klendathu drop

Robocop

Total Recall

Batman Begins - molossus

the return of the king - the crack of doom

i particulary like the bit towards the end as Bara'dur is crumbling its like a massive relief

Return of the King - lighting of the beacons

The Two Towers - riders of rohan

The felowship of the ring - council of elrond

nice one to chill to

Star Trek the motion picture

pretty much the main theme throughout most of the films and next gen, now this might upset some core trekkies but i think this is better than the original wailing alexander courage one, this one sounds much better to me.

Star Trek First Contact

one of the tracks that got me into movie scores.

Matrix reloaded - mona lisa overdrive

The Avengers

A WILD CHALLENGER APPEARS
Rob Dougan

now i dont think any of the above have formed part of a soundtrack perse but rob's work is amazing i know he helped with the matrix soundtracks but you've probably heard his work without hearing it.

one more wild challenged because it sounds awesome and i heard it on top gear

Thanks Charlie, I didn't want to say anything but yes... I'm after music that's almost biblical, a score that instantly reminds you of the movie it comes from.
I posted these on Facebook last night:
Jurassic Park
Inception
De Beers commercial

Not just great movies and great themes, I want absolutely EPIC movie scores, music that the vast majority of the world will instantly recognise as music from that film.

Nice additions:
Star Trek TNG and Movie 1
BHD - Hans Zimmer both brilliant.
Platoon - Adagio for strings, BTW Charlie, have you heard the version from the video game Homeworld - Quire of Voices, thats Epic too.
Battle Beyond the Stars - Instantly recognisable and awesome theme too.
Star Ship troopers - another belter.

I'm not so sure about The Matrix theme, I've never heard that music, and the matrix 1 was all rock.

well i thought they were epic just me :ymhug:

wing commander - overture
shit film, great music ok not instantly recognisable but i think it sounds pretty epic.

Revenge of the Sith - battle of the heroes
sounds pretty epic to me, and i think its much better than dual of the fates

LOL no-one's disputing they're epic m8, but as I understand it Daz is after one tune that sums up an entire film, not just entire epic OSTs :)

P.S this thread fucking kills Firefox on my Mac now :(
Maybe we should have put all the vids spoiler tags...

Just found my John Carpenter folders, there's little doubt his movies have amazing theme music.
