im genuinely confused by something i can see in the night sky at the moment, its in a WNW direction, sadly i dont have a good telescope but i have a basic set of binocs, and from what i can see its either 1 or two points of white light, i cant at the moment see any navigation lights.

the light source doesn't appear to be moving in any direction and seems fixed. my first thoughts were its a jet landing at liverpool airport since i live next door but as i mentioned its gotten no closer.

my second thought was its a bright star or planet. but google sky map tells me there shouldnt be anything in that section of the sky, and venus has gone below the horizon.

its also not one of those daft chinese lanterns as its too bright and not moved

so im looking at an unidentified object but im not suggesting its an extraterrestrial vessel just its unidentified

has anyone else seen it in the north west of england? or even the rest of the country? is it a bright star?

could it even be a supernova?
