It also says 4 flags on the left while on PC there are 5. Maybe left is console print and right is PC?redVENGEANCE wrote:well the pic on the left says 1 jet each but the pic on the right says 2 jets each

Also Dave, gaming crowd is incredibly fickle. They love you now they hate you 2 minutes later then they love you 5 minutes later and so on. To achive what DICE achieved, a loyal following is a mammoth task. But the history is full of big companies fuck ups. Just watched some documentary about it on BBC, how Coca Cola reinvented themselves to compete with Fanta (or was it pepsi?) and pissed off a lot of loyal fans of the old taste. I guess we just have to wait and see what this MoHCoDBF frankenstein be like.

Don't want it? Don't buy it.
Want it? Buy it.
Simples.
I bet both games have full servers for at least the rest of the year, and beyond... And that's all that matters to me. I'm not an EA or Activision shareholder.

I spoke to my friend who owns the independant gameshop in town this morning and explained this deal, i showed him the link on his laptop.
This is what he said.
If you buy bf3 for £40 gamestop make the money on that profit - which is usually 50% of the RRP.
You then trade in and by mw3 for a pound and they sell bf3 for another £30 essentially making the bf3 game £71 which in turn means the game really costs £71 once it's been through the markets but they only really payed EA for the £40 worth of goods.
Also you have to make sure your game and money stays in the same gaming shop which the guarentee you will shop with them again.
The then used copy of bf3 makes them the money again and the online pass system makes up the other % EA would of lost.
He went on to say that, the chances are gamestop have got a special order where buying in bulk means they get each unit at about £24-£28 which is common, so if that was the case the margin of profit exceeds the deal, and they are quids in which ever way it is.
In relaity the gameshop would lose £9 on mw3, but not if they have bulk purchases of £28, meaning the 2nd hand profit is much bigger than buying it new anyway.
love it when a plan comes together
my mate said that he couldn't even order that many games, he couldn't sell them all, it would be a pure loss to a small buisness, but someone like gamestop or game could do this and make more money selling the 2nd hand copy.

Well I looked around internetz and also it is common business practice that retailer operates on 30% markup. I've read few article about how games are priced and 25-30% to the retailer from the price of the game seems to be consistent, so I have not idea how your friend is making 50%
Also the deal is you pay for 2 games but get 40.98 refund if you return BF3. I just cannot see what you mean by making £70 odd quid on returned game? They do give you your £41 quid back that you paid them so after pricing BF3 £37 something they actually give you the whole price plus £4 quid back.
If you assume that the profit marging is indeed 25-30% and not 50% they make fuck all on second hand deal. I still doubt 50% is correct figure, sounds to fucking good to be true. Fuck I will go sell games tomo if this is the case.

simple KK.
game cost 40 - u return it - they make 30 back on it, they would lose £9 after refunding you, but not if they buy each unit at a cheaper price - they would still be making £6 if the game was £24 to buy from the warehouse. (which is more than likly what is really going on)
Also for that second hand game EA will get nothing they already paid ea on the full game - all ea will get is the online pass profit.
and lol!!!!!!! this guy has ran a gaming business for 17 years.. i would think he knows the gaming markups.
u gotta remember they buy games for much cheaper than they are sold at retail.. it doesn't cost game £40 for bf3, it costs them 24.
They can do this deal because of how many items they buy in bulk meaning the orginal unit price is lower than u paid for for anyway.

My wallrt - £40
Gamestop - £0
2nd hand gamestop wallet - 30
balance £-9 to gamestop.
Add in the fact it only cost them a wholesale price
40-24 = 16 spare.
16+30 = 46 total price
profit £6.
okay?

Ok, the copy I returned to them is now second hand.
They paid for it £24
They have to sell it £24+ to make a profit
Online pass that you will have to pay £10
New game - £40
So they have to sell it for lets say £25 secondhand so that I'm interested to buy that than new so that after paying £10 for online I have paid £35 total
They paid £24, they sell it for £25 = £1 profit, whereas they can make £16 profit if they sellit new.
Question is why would they want to lose £15 on every returned copy?
Still think your profit margins too high.
