technically the reactor hasnt exploded the building it is housed in has, this is what the news agencys say, i dont think the company would beat around the bush considering the circumstances, the 3rd reactor may have problems soon too so we will see how that pans out

yeah luckily the reactor didn't explode.
Otherwise it be another chernobyl - however there is a risk of a meltdown from explosions because if the air can't escape it causes allsorts of issues.
I am glad we don't have this type of disaster in the uk, we only need 3 inches of snow to cause massive issues.
Even though the mega quake/mega tsunami hit japan and 1000's of people killed/injured/homeless .. at least in time they can recover, unlike many other countries cannot..japan is a big eco climate and can recover luckily.. but the news isn;t great is it... i watched a thing on telly last night and it showed a town of 19,000 before, and after.
before lush green hills, mansions, etc.. now.. nothing.. it's gone.. pretty bad.

It's thanks to Japanese innovation and the fact that they have had quakes before that it wasn't a lot more serious. They've been building their city buildings on springs for a long time to make them earthquake proof.

To their credit, they haven't had a single fatality due to the nuclear reactors going though. Shit will get real when clouds containing radioactive material starts appearing in rain... It's preferable that something like this happens in Japan, where they give a shit, rather than in Russia (again) or the Middle East or India...
But more importantly - how does this shit affect gaming?

Plus, it's not a laughing matter, but I did have to lol at one of the comments...MotorStorm Apocalypse has had its Japanese release delayed, Irem's Disaster Report 4 has been cancelled and online games with Japanese servers such as Final Fantasy XII and XIV are currently offline as the country recovers from the earthquake and tsunami crisis that hit last week.
Sony and Evolution Studios' racer MotorStorm Apocalypse was due for release on March 17, and it has now been postponed to an indefinite date in the future. The plans for release in UK and US – where it's scheduled to come out on March 16 and April 12 respectively – are currently under discussion.
Siliconera reports that Irem has also cancelled Disaster Report 4, which was scheduled to come out this Spring in Japan.
Servers for Final Fantasy XI and XIV have been closed and will be down for at least a week according to a Joystiq report, as the country conserves energy.
If you want to lend aid to Japan as it deals with the aftermath of the crisis please head to the British Red Cross site and make a donation, or if you're reading in America then head here to donate to your local alternative.

Japan and New Zealand earthquakes predicted a month ago.
Take it with a pinch of salt, this guy is saying that the suns actvity is directly related to the earthquakes.
See it for yourself:

3rd reactor now explodes in Fukushima. (reactor number 2)
Like I said in an earlier tweet:
God bless Japan, the devil surely hates you.
2 other nuclear installations are also experiencing serious diffuculties cooling the cores.A third reactor at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuke plant encountered problems with its cooling mechanism, triggering fears of a meltdown.#cnn
