This thread was going to start me on a Rant and rave.

We sometimes resource alot of work out to 3rd party companys
To network a couple of machines up etc

Pointless sending me that could cost upto £250 - 500
For travel expenses, My work time, Jobs not getting done etc

So pay someone 60 - 120 for a hour to what of there time!!!

FFS!!! too many idiots out there!!!

They come on the phone,
Hi yes am the engineer.
So what do you want me to do!!

See Computer A: And Computer B:
Network them together, so they are on the Same range of IP's
Same Workgroup, With Folders shared and permissions applied for both machines to read and write to one another.

........................................
10 Minutes later
........................................

What do you mean Same Range.
How do i find the range out?
How do i change the IP Address.....
How do i find out the current IP Address
How do i set up Permissions to the machine to write to this folder.

The Numbers of Engineer who say. How do i know the IP.
And when i quickly say CMD and Ipconfig, there like what.........

If there is one thing that boils my bloody its false idiots who say there one thing, and aint got a god dam fucking clue!!!!

Was...? Looks like it did :)

There are a lot of people I'm finding that basically have fuck all clue how to do their job. So many blaggers in the world...

Bottom line: want something doing, do it yourself. And charge twice as much LoL.

The number of times I heard "my friend is an engineer" at PCWorld was unbelievable, so why the fuck are'nt they fixing it then?

Some would even take the PC away so their friend could fix it, only to bring it back a week later with the same problem.

95% of all problems were caused by hundreds of startup programmes, I've seen notification areas that go across the full length of the screen. I've seen PC's that take 30+ minutes to boot, I even saw one once that had a LIVE MOUSE living inside it, and of course it's always our fault for selling them a faulty piece of shit in the first place.

Well, to be fair, you should have at least made sure the mouse was dead :D

No way!
Poor thing, mind you the PC was, the mouse chewed through the PSU cables and HDD power cables.

Even better ask them to ping google.co.uk or another machine on the network. :))

Even better a network install.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind windows updates I mean if you ignore your windows box that long that you end up downloading 1-2GB a time then your an arse.

Just like the cunts on the Internet who moan that everytime they go on PS3 they have to update all the time and that it takes ages, maybe if they fucking used the thing more than 1 every 6 months they wouldn't have to.

That one for another day though.

PS3 updates are annoying when you get home from work to discover you need one to play online. At this time, all the kids are caning the network with their purile drivel so it takes an age to download, and invariably adds fuck all of any relevance to me. Fortunately they're not that frequent.

And that picture is not fair on Apple - I've had this laptop over a year, and it updates loads (but a lot less than Windows does), but a) they never cost me and b) it fucking works. In the time I've had it, this laptop has crashed on me once, and I leave it on 99.5% of the time.
