I learned a new trick :)

Last night I thought I'd dust off the ol' girl and see if I couldn't get some more rank 8 golds...

And I found a sneaky little trick that did indeed net me golds where before were bronzes. Anyone who's familiar with Wipeout should get it...

Use the boost attack (R1/L1) like side shift in Wipeout. It basically stops your slide and starts you going in the direction you're pointing. It means you can approach corners faster which seems to give you a much better advantage over the AI.

I haven't tried it online yet, but I bet it helps.

The only downsides are that you need one finger on R1 and one on R2, and obviously it doesn't work for bikes or ATVs.

It's also bloody handy on those speed trial things if you find you're not quite in line for the next checkpoint.

But, it does a weird camera nudge when you do it in the Monster Truck, but the phsyics effect is the same. You just have to use the force slightly.
